Small Groups: Let's Talk About

Let’s Talk About…

a new small group beginning this September

 This group will meet at the parsonage on the 4th Tuesday of every month at 6:30 pm.  Teenagers are welcome accompanied by a parent or with written parental permission.

 

 

 

September: Let’s talk about homelessness
We will watch the 2006 film The Pursuit of Happyness, followed by a discussion.  This film is rated PG-13 for language.

October: Let’s talk about xenophobia
We will watch the 2007 film The Visitor, followed by a discussion.  This film is rated PG-13 for brief strong language.

November: Let’s talk about homophobia
We will watch the 1993 film Philadelphia, followed by a discussion.  This film is rated PG-13 for some graphic language and thematic material.

December: Let’s talk about angels, Christmas, and faith
We will watch the 1996 film The Preacher’s Wife, followed by a discussion.  This film is rated PG.

January: Let’s talk about racism
We will watch the 2000 film Remember the Titans, followed by a discussion.  This film is rated PG for thematic elements and some language.

February: Let’s talk about generosity and sacrifice
We will watch the 1988 Danish film Babette’s Feast, followed by a discussion. This film is rated G.

March: Let’s talk about sexism
We will watch the 2005 film North Country, followed by a discussion.  This film is rated R for sequences involving sexual harassment including violence and dialogue, and for language.

April: Let’s talk about tradition and progress
We will watch the 1988 film The Milagro Beanfield War.  This film is rated R for brief strong language.

May: Let’s talk about privacy
We will watch the 2006 film The Lives of Others.  This film is in German, with subtitles, and is rated R for some sexuality and nudity.
